About the role

• Drive the overall payroll strategy for the group, ensuring alignment with business goals and cross-functional collaboration
• Provide leadership in resolving complex payroll issues that are escalated beyond the payroll teams
• Oversee accurate and timely processing of all payroll transactions (e.g. salaries, wages, benefits, garnishments, taxes, bonuses, commissions) for over 15,000 team members across JB HiFi Group
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates (e.g., new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates, position changes) 
• Ensure timely processing of payroll in accordance with legislative, industrial and company requirements and procedures
• Manage the preparation of all State and Federal tax obligations including PAYG tax, STP lodgements and Superannuation Guarantee contributions
• Review and implement compliance changes to systems and processes to maintain best practice and meet legal requirements
• Lead payroll technology integration initiatives to enhance automation, scalability, and efficiency across payroll systems.

About you

• 3-5+ years proven experience in a Payroll Manager role within a fast paced, high-volume environment
• Solid understanding of payroll practices, legislation and compliance
• Proactive, solutions focussed, and flexible approach  
• Effective time management to prioritise and follow through on competing demands
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skill, with the ability to drive continuous improvement and collaboration
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with Excel skills being particularly crucial for data analysis and reporting
• Experience in ADP and PayGlobal preferred but not essential
