The Role

Your role will see you working within one of the most successful retail organisations in the country, building an understanding of the business of retail and turning this understanding into solutions that support our customers, staff, and partners throughout the product lifecycle of offering, selling, and fulfilling. You should thrive on the opportunity to solve complex challenging problems and relish the chance to explore and realise innovative ideas within the retail sector.

Whilst your primary focus will be writing code, you will be truly cross-functional and you will be willing and able to contribute to any part of the delivery pipeline. Your sense of curiosity will ensure you appreciate the how and why, not just the who, what, and when. You will take pride in your craft and actively seek continual improvement of self, team, and organisation.

Whilst experience is valuable, your attitude and aptitude is more important to us as an organisation. You will inherently understand software development and be looking to impart this understanding to the broader team.

You will be self-motivated, have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and enjoy contributing to the success of an Agile squad.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong working understanding of the business
  • Work as a cross functional member of a squad within the full software development lifecycle
  • Write and contribute to well designed, testable, efficient code
  • Lead pair programming and peer review exercises as required
  • Produce specifications and design artifacts and/or evaluate these against business need
  • Work across squads to ensure that the systems we deliver are fit for purpose
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Participate in the devops support role on a roster basis
  • Identify risks and issues as necessary and ensure they are socialised

Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years exposure to the software development lifecycle in a production setting
  • Some exposure to the retail industry, although not mandatory
  • A bachelors degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, although not mandatory
  • Demonstrated experience in development practices to build experiences on the Salesforce Platform, particularly Service Cloud and Sales Cloud.
  • Working knowledge in Salesforce best practice (e.g. trigger, flow bulkification, etc.)
  • Hands on Apex, Lightning Web Components, Aura Components and Java experience
  • Excellent proficiency using the Atlassian suite - JIRA, Confluence etc.
  • Understanding of object orientated programming, coding best practices and GIT version control system
  • Quality tools for code review such as CodeScan.
  • Knowledge in information systems and digital systems concepts.
  • Some exposure to CPQ, Financial Force, although not mandatory
